Swarms of little green bugs!

The lush green mopane vegetation is now host to millions  and billions of little green flies. I am using my sunglasses from the point we leave the base to the time we get back, in the dark, as they stop these flies getting in my eyes. Especially when we’re spotlighting. Ears are a problem, and we’re keeping mouths firmly shut as otherwise all we seem to do is spit flies out. Lovely!

These flies however are providing food for the thousands of swallows, swifts and martins that have migrated here. Again I’ve taken photos, but not downloaded them yet as it’s so amazing to see thousands of these birds wheeling in the skies above you.
